What's new
Follow OpenWish as it becomes a calmer, more capable place to plan thoughtful gifts.
Get started, find friends, and reveal the exchange
New accounts get a friendly checklist, the Friends page suggests people you already share things with, organizers can reveal a finished gift exchange, and owners can tidy stale ideas.
- A dismissible get-started checklist guides a new dashboard through a wishlist, an idea, a friend, and an event.
- People you may know: suggestions come only from events and wishlists you already share, with a one-tap Add friend.
- After the event date, organizers can reveal who drew whom; members then see names and the draw is locked.
- Still want these? Owners can keep or remove ideas that have not changed in six months.
- Grid cards now open reservation and comments inline instead of jumping to list view.
See what you have reserved at a glance
Shopping from a friend's wishlist now shows which gifts are yours, keeps counts current as you reserve or release, and handles two people grabbing the same idea gracefully.
- Ideas you reserved are labeled "Reserved by you" in both grid and list views.
- A new "Reserved by you" count and filter bring your own picks together in one tap.
- Reserving or releasing an idea updates the badges and counts right away, without reloading.
- If someone else reserves an idea first, the idea updates to show it is taken instead of leaving you at a dead end.
- Gift buttons say what they do (Reserve gift, Your reservation, Comment on gift).
- Reservation dates use the same readable format as the rest of the app.
Keep your wishlist filters in view
Finding the right idea is clearer: OpenWish now shows exactly what is filtering a wishlist and lets you remove any choice in one tap.
- See the current result count and every active search or filter without reopening the filter panel.
- Remove a search, priority, availability, comment, price, or budget choice directly from the active-filter row.
- No-match guidance repeats your search and offers one clear action to return to all ideas.
- Long searches wrap on phones, so the recovery action stays on screen.
- Clearer reset labels distinguish the filter-panel reset from showing every idea again.
- Item controls wrap cleanly on phones so actions stay reachable on narrow screens.
Put your most wanted ideas first
Wishlists now follow the order you choose, so the people shopping for you can start with the ideas that matter most.
- Mark an idea as most wanted to keep it at the top of your wishlist.
- Move ideas up or down from either grid or list view to make the order feel right.
- Every move is saved right away, including when you use a keyboard.
- Shoppers see your chosen order and most-wanted ideas without seeing any owner controls.
- You can still switch to priority, price, budget, name, or date sorting whenever you need a different view.
A clearer first wishlist
Creating your first wishlist now keeps the next step obvious: keep your ideas private to start, then add the first one right away.
- The dashboard puts Create your first wishlist before exchange setup until you have a list.
- New wishlists are private by default, so you decide when ideas are ready to share.
- Clearer names and examples make wishlist, collaborator, and sharing choices easier to understand.
- After creating a list, OpenWish takes you straight to Add your first idea.
- A clear confirmation tells you the new wishlist is ready and keeps the first idea focused.
